Mounet el Téta

Teta’s autumn kitchen in a basket.

Every autumn, Teta’s kitchen turns into a little mouné workshop. The apples come from the family trees, harvested by Teta and Khalo, and slowly cooked by Teta into jam. The zaatar is mixed the way it always has been, and the keshek is prepared to last the winter. Alongside it all is a small clay jug, shaped by hand in Rachaya Al Foukhar, a southern village known for its pottery.

This hamper is a small piece of that kitchen, packed for you.

What’s inside

Zaatar
Ready to eat, already mixed with sumac, sesame and salt. Drizzle olive oil on bread and sprinkle generously, or bake it on a man’oushé.
Sumac
A tangy touch for fattoush, chicken, fish and grilled vegetables.
Keshek
Made from cow’s milk and already salted. Cook 1 cup of keshek with 2 cups of water, stirring until thick.
Apple jam
Made by Teta from home-grown apples. Spread on toast or serve with butter.
Zaatar crackers
Homemade with a natural zaatar mix. Lovely on their own, or with labneh and olive oil.
Clay jug
Handmade in Rachaya Al Foukhar. Use it for olive oil, or keep it as a piece of decor.

3asrouniyeh

The late-afternoon tray Teta keeps ready for guests. Alcohol free.

In Lebanese homes, late afternoon has its own ritual. The heat softens, neighbors drop by, and out comes a cold glass of sharab el tout with a plate of something sweet. This hamper recreates that moment.

The sharab el tout comes from the villages of the Matn, made the traditional way with nothing but mulberries, sugar and a splash of lemon. The orange cookies are baked at home by a relative, with no added sugar. And to complete the table: the treats every Teta keeps ready for guests.

What’s inside

Sharab el tout
Mulberry syrup. Mix 1 part syrup with 2 parts cold water and serve over ice.
Orange cookies
Homemade, with no added sugar. Lovely with a glass of sharab el tout or your afternoon coffee.
Ra7a w biscuit
Soft miskéh ra7a sandwiched between two biscuits. Best with tea or coffee.

Happy Hour

An evening in a handmade basket.

Some evenings call for a bottle to open and good company around the table. This hamper brings together the best of the south and the mountains for exactly that.

The wine comes from a small family winery in Marjeyoun, a bottle you won’t find on supermarket shelves. The salted nuts are roasted in small batches in the Chouf and served in a clay bowl shaped by hand in Rachaya Al Foukhar. The zaatar cookies are baked at home by a relative, and the chocolates come from Ghraoui. Even the basket that holds it all is handmade.

What’s inside

Red wine, 2018
From Marjeyoun, South Lebanon. Open it about 30 minutes before serving, slightly cool, around 16 to 18°C.
Zaatar cookies
Salted and homemade. The savory bite to go with a glass of wine.
Salted nuts
Roasted by a small roastery in the Chouf. Serve them in the clay bowl.
Ghraoui chocolates
One coffee, one Nutella. Save them for the end of the evening.
Clay bowl and basket
Both handmade. Keep the bowl for olives, nuts or dips, and reuse the basket around your home.

Scented organza bag
For a closet, a bathroom or any room that needs a gentle fragrance.
